The old chardonnay vines are planted on a gently north leaning knoll and in close proximity to the Pacific. The combination of old vines, cool ocean air, fog, and marine soil create a wine of complexity unrivaled in the Santa Rita Hills.
“The 2017 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard comes from the vineyard’s original, early 1970s-era planting. The nose offers aromas of saline, peach, lime zest, white pepper, chalk and crushed shell with red apples and pie crust. The palate is light to medium-bodied, minerally and chalky textured with tangy acidity and a long, peach-laced finish. 142 cases produced.” –93 Points, Wine Advocate
